It has been raining a lot lately in Charlotte. Luckily it is only pockets of rain, but rain none the less. I realize that it has so many necessary benefits for our surroundings. This past Saturday morning, my husband and I walked to the farmers market as we do on most weekends. We brought back produce that was most likely picked that very early morning in the rain (way before dawn while I was still sleeping). The rain helps to yield a bountiful crop. Growing up in the country, I recognize the luxury of a summer shower. Then and now, I appreciate the grey days so that we can enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers. And I want the grey days as they cool things off during our hot summers just a bit and make everything appear vibrant and bright afterward.
Some days when the skies are grey, I might reach for a brighter piece of clothing to offset the day. Yet, lately, I have been going back to my essential wardrobe roots. The neutrals that I find so comforting and soothing. My white, blacks, nudes, off-whites, creams, and beiges to get me through the day. In a world that is so crazy, unpredictable, and unstable, I feel more at ease in my calming neutral colors. Yet, just because these colors are not as vibrant as a field of wildflowers, does not negate their stature or beauty. Shades of beige are not dull colors. They are clean, classic, timeless, and bold in their own right. If anything, they exude more confidence and restraint with a marked presence of authority.
Sunshine just makes us all feel better. My 74-year-old mother would also attest that Justin Timberlake makes her feel better. LOL. There is something about the uplifting feeling that you get after a few days of rainy, gloomy days, and then the sun comes out to brighten up your day and lift your mood. Even though we are starting to toe step into the fall season. I am hanging on to the last few days of summer as long as I can. I love the warmth, the carefree clothes, the menus, and the music. Summer makes me happy, which is why I want to share some of my favorite summer essential looks.
Cream of the Crop
I have put together different cream to beige looks for your enjoyment. Some are for more summer weather, others are hinting at fall. You will also notice some tonal outfits. Wearing a somewhat monochromatic outfit will make you appear taller and slimmer because of the uniform color and vertical, columnar shape it gives your frame. My short body is very appreciative of this illusion.
When you hover over an item, you will see the retailer, brand, price, and potential sale price. You can even opt-in for sale alerts. Just click ‘♡ Get Sale Alert.’ You will be notified each time the price drops. It is like having the grey skies clear, and a rainbow appearing just for you!
